Logic
Many Renko charts draw perfect bricks, but at a cost: opens that never traded, bricks added when price jumps. On screen it looks clean. In a backtest, those fictional prices distort entries, stops and results.
NumexRenko builds every brick from real prices. The open is the first price traded, the close is the price that crossed the threshold, and the wicks are the real extremes. You set separately the move that extends the trend and the counter move that creates a reversal.
The "NumexRenko Bricks" chart style keeps the usual visual comfort: bricks of even height, the real wicks, and a coloured outline on every reversal brick. It is display only: your indicators and strategies keep reading the real prices.
NumexRenko is a bar type, not a signal: it gives you a reading and testing base that stays true to the market, on which to apply your own method.
Features
- Each brick opens at the first price actually traded and closes at the price that crossed the threshold
- No brick made up when price jumps: what you see actually traded
- Continuation and reversal set separately, in ticks
- A brick style with even bodies and the real wicks visible
- Reversal bricks outlined in their own colour, so you spot them at a glance
- Indicators, strategies and backtests read the real prices: the display does not change the data
Parameters
- Trend ticks: move that creates a brick in the trend direction (default 1)
- Reversal ticks: counter move that creates a reversal brick (default 19)
- Brick body: automatic, (Trend + Reversal) / 2, or a forced height in ticks
- Real body option: shows the real open and close instead of the even body
- Colours for bullish bricks, bearish bricks and the reversal outline (yellow by default)
- Built from ticks; starts fresh at each new session
